Falling for a venue is easy; marrying in one takes due diligence. Print this list and take it on every tour — the answers separate dream venues from expensive mistakes.
Money & logistics
What is truly included — tables, chairs, linens, parking, cleanup? What are the overtime rates, and when does the party legally have to end? Is there a required caterer list, and what are the corkage and cake-cutting fees? Who carries event insurance, you or them?
Weather & power
What is the wet-weather plan, and who decides to trigger it? How many kilowatts can the site actually supply for band, lighting and catering? Where do vendors load in, and is there somewhere dry for them to wait?
Sound, light & neighbours
Are there amplified-music curfews or decibel limits? Is confetti, sparkler or open-flame candlelight allowed? How late can vendors strike the room — and what does the venue charge if they run over?
The human details
Is there a bridal suite — with a lock, a mirror and daylight? How many restrooms serve how many guests? Is the site genuinely accessible for grandparents? And who, by name, is your day-of contact?
